Hello my name is Ms. Neubrandt I graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and a minor in Early Childhood. I have received my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on the National Board Teacher Certification from Emporia State University in May of 2012. I have been teaching since 2003. I first taught Pre-K for five years at Precious Years Learning Center in Nisswa, MN. I had the opportunity to come to Syracuse, KS to teach third grade in 2008.
I am an outgoing teacher, who enjoys teaching children to think outside the box. I teach them higher order thinking skills, so they can solve problems that come their way. Since I do this, when you come into my room the students may not be at their desk, because they are problem solving a question they have come up with while researching information on a topic we are studying or they are helping each other out. I build a community of learners in the class and build a relationship with each student as well as building one with the parents.
I have three children as well and they have taught me many things that I incorporate in the classroom. My son, Trevor, lives in Duluth, MN. My daughter, Maraya, lives in Sturgeon Lake, MN. My youngest daughter, Alia, lives in Syracuse. My children have given me a different perspective on how individual each child can be. This has helped me in my classroom, because I believe all children are individuals that have the right to learn. I teach all children the district-approved core curriculum but, may, teach students the curriculum in different ways to suit their learning style. Children have their own unique gifts and I, as their teacher, will encourage and try to incorporate his/her’s gift into their learning as is reasonable within the classroom. My goal is for children, in my class, to reach their academic goal regardless of the goal. Whatever the goal, we will strive together to reach or exceed it.
